Sri Mariamman Temple
Sri Mariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu Temple in Singapore. Hinduism is the religious belief and practices of vast majority in India. Sri Mariamman Temple is also quite popular in South India, Mariamman is a rain goddess. This temple was built in 1827 along South Bridge Road, you can always take a train and alight at Chinatown train station. It was renovated in 1930s, now still looking glam and new.
A board is displayed to inform visitors that all should enter the temple barefoot, as a form of respect, and photography is only allowed inside the temple when the temple attendant gives permission after giving him $3, so... I took the picture while standing outside the temple. Hahaha.
The splendid Gopuram (the five-tier tower), it is the prominent feature of the Hindu temple; the rising tower at the entrance, which can be easily spotted even from afar. Below Gopuram are two large wooden doors with small bells hung on them, which act to notify the gods of the arrivals of any visitors.
Around the five-tier tower, there are various images goddess flanked by her attendants.

I took this picture from a book which I borrowed, I seen this exact same picture on the ceiling inside the temple. The temple plays an important role for the Hindu community in Singapore and is always a preferred choice for holding wedding for Hindu family.
